About

The Sitka Cancer Survivor’s Society is an all-volunteer board of Sitkans who have survived cancer or have had a close personal experience with cancer.

Because we have cancer in our past, we help Sitkans who are dealing with cancer in the present - through grant assistance, the SCSS support group, annual community events, and the Path of Hope Park. Currently, the Sitka Cancer Survivor’s Society has over 100 members.

We raise funds through a combination of grant proposals, member contributions and donations.

The Path of Hope Project

447696983_870990768404667_3619369972989965952_n

The Path of Hope winds through an attractively landscaped area with benches and inspirational plaques that have been placed at intervals along the path. The inspirational plaques have brief, positive and empowering motivational messages composed to inspire and assist members of our community facing this disease and to embrace family members.

Our desire is that the Path of Hope will make a difference in people’s lives. We believe this project will increase awareness about cancer survival and give hope. As a result, more members of our community will realize they have the strength and support to survive cancer.
